Summer is out and it’s time to think of some creative, budget-friendly things to do with the kids. Afterall, you can only go to the pool so many days in a row. Below is a list of our favorite things to do in Walterboro, SC this summer.
The Forde Doll & Doll House Collection
Forde Doll & Dollhouse Collection is displayed at the Hampton House Bed and Breakfast in Walterboro South Carolina. The collection exhibits more than 50 dollhouses, room boxes, toy kitchens, paper dolls, and antique dolls. A walk through the collection is free and a beautiful museum impressive to all ages.
Mayfield Park
Mayfield Park is a small park in a residential area in the town of Walterboro. From grilling burgers and hotdogs on the barbeque grill or sitting on a bench while the kids play on the playground, Mayfield Park provides fun for the whole family. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk.
Colleton State Park
Open from 9 am – 6 pm daily Colleton State Park is located on 147 Wayside Lane in Walterboro South Carolina. The park offers free admission and lots of fun activities for the whole family. From swimming, biking, playing on the playground, or having a picnic at on the of the picnic shelters, Colleton Park is the perfect summer spot.
Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary
As one of Walterboro’s nature-based sites located on the ACE Basin, the Sanctuary provides visitors with a mix of history, culture, recreation, and education. The Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary offers trails to allow visitors to explore the braided creeks and forest and a Discovery Center. The Discovery Center is an exhibition hall where guests learn about the importance of swamps in the Lowcountry and the habitat they create for different plants and animals.
Fireworks
As it gets closer to America’s Independence Day here are some fun and free July 4th activities for the family. On July 4th Edisto Beach hosts a day-long celebration starting with a parade at 9 am, annual Air Force flyover at approximately 1:56 pm, and a firework display that can be seen from the marsh or marina.
